Challenge
How might we develop a content management system (CMS) within SP_CE to enhance user engagement and boost our competitive edge?
Background
From 2021 to 2023, SP_CE offers branded digital spaces where sellers can safely invite people, share content, collaborate and earn actionable insights into buyers’ journey. In this project, we created the new CMS empowering brands to create, customize digital spaces and scale in minutes, which is one of the largest projects at SP_CE since 2021.

Business Problem
Easily replaceable by competitors
In 2021, the majority of sellers primarily relied on SP_CE-branded digital spaces for their meeting needs, making us easily replaceable by other meeting tools once the threat of COVID diminished. Our team wanted to increase user engagement for our core users by increasing use case adoption.

Research Findings
From customer support requests and Hotjar recordings a few things stood out:
1. Sellers want to share various content types such as images, videos, text, panels containing important resources, buttons with branded styles.
2. Sellers want to combine contents to create dynamic layouts supporting multiple columns horizontally on desktop screen.
3. The dynamic layout must be mobile-friendly.

Ideation
To address the design challenge, I brainstormed several UI exploration. Based on the feedbacks from developers and management, we then proceed with one option.
Competitor Analysis Findings
I did a competitor analysis on other famous CMS to understand the interaction behaviours and opportunities for improvement. The competitors including: Wix, Wordpress and Shopify as our current sellers use these platforms more than others.

Drawing from the insights, I conducted another round of low-fidelity design and identified 9 content block types that will be supported in the new CMS.

After the having a clear understanding of the CMS, I proceeded to the next step in which I designed high-fidelity designs.

The project was launched in 2021 and brought positive business impacts.
